This wheel of the year has a black cat and moon image in the center. It measures 8" in diameter and has a detachable jute rope to hang it from.
The Wheel of the Year is a cycle of eight seasonal festivals, or Sabbats, that mark the changing seasons in Pagan traditions. The Wheel of the Year is represented by a wheel with eight spokes, and each Sabbat is represented by a spoke on the wheel.
The eight Sabbats are:
- Samhain: A fire festival
- Yule: The winter solstice
- Imbolc: A fire festival
- Ostara: The spring equinox
- Beltane: A fire festival
- Litha: The summer solstice
- Lammas/Lughnasadh: A fire festival
- Mabon: The autumn equinox
Each Sabbat has its own unique rituals and significance. The opposite ends of the wheel are the winter solstice and the summer solstice. The festivals are spaced every six or seven weeks throughout the year.
